N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I think the first word is Nobold, a place in Shropshire, OS SJ4710. For collector you then have the choice of T Butler, Canon T Butler, or Thomas Butler. All may be the same person!

Thanks for the tip-off about Cambridge. I looked up Thomas Butler in the Cambridge Alumni Database and have added details to the Thomas Butler wiki.

It should be recorded that Butler's wife Fanny was the sister of Anna Worsley, a prominent amateur botanist who married Frederick Russell (q.v.).

Butler's son Samuel was an artist and writer (including on Darwinism) who is best known as author of 'The Way of All Flesh'.
