N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

There are also specimens (q.v.) of this taxon R. nemorosus/balfourianus from Kinver Green and Earls Court, Worcester labelled in the same hand. Could he be the eponymous author of R. balfourianus, A. Bloxham 1801-1878 (I haven't seen his handwriting)? He was Vicar of Twycross, Leics from 1839 to 1878.

Hartlebury was the residence of the Bishop of Worcester, so it's quite likely the collector was a vicar.

Since my last message I have decided that the collector was in fact Joseph Hesselgrave Thompson. The way he writes dates, the unusual way he abbreviates "Worcestershire" and certain characteristics of letter formation points to him (or to the person who wrote his labels).

There is a specimen of Potamogeton polygonifolius, collected at Hartlebury in April 1848. The left hand label is in Hunt Painter's writing and says that the collector is J H Thompson; on the right hand side is another label which is the same writing as the above.
