N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names. Log-in to edit this sheet.

- 'Tigh-na-Cruaich' The site I've found with grid ref NN3754 is a ruin - maybe a castle - by Loch Laidon on Rannoch Moor - the altitude certainly isn't 20 feet! On the other hand, this and a twin sheet can also be read as Tighnabruaich, which is at NR9872 on the Kyle of Bute in VC100 Clyde Islands, which is the right altitude, and massively easier to get to; though I'm not sure there's any castle - could this qualify as Argyle?

OS 1km square NR9872 is mostly the waters of the Kyles of Bute, with land in the E part in VC100 Clyde Islands, and the NW corner in VC98 Argyllshire, where Tighnabruaich stands. There are spot heights on the coast road of 13 and 19 feet, so if there is a castle it must be next to the beach. |
