N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

The only Claverton or similar I can find is in Somerset near Bath, not Devon. Given that Haslam's only other collection this year is from Leigh Woods Bristol, I think the inscription 'Devonshire' is probably a mistake.

Samuel Holker Haslam born 1796. 9 Nov 1837 admitted to the Botanical Soc. of Edinburgh and described as Esq., FLS, and living in Chesham, near Bury, Lancashire. By 1840 address given as 4 Grosvenor Place, Bath. Died 13 Apr 1856 at Milnthorpe, Westmorland.

If he were living in Bath in 1841 he mostly likely would have been familiar with Claverton ~2km to the east, with Claverton Woods centred on OS ST782632.

S H Haslam - cotton manufacturer, based in Bury.

1841 census records that he was living in Walcot, Bath with his wife Mary and servants, described as being of 'independent means'.

In 1851, he was in Kendal with Mary (Green Side Cottage), and a Justice of the Peace.

Buried 18th April, 1856 Heversham, Westmoreland.
