N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

h@h has 4 sheets which have been edited as from 'North Balmuto' (non-existent), all of this species collected by Syme, and I read the labels as something more like 'North Balurle, Fife'. Syme's Balmuto specimens all read clearly as such. Fifeshire has Balmule NT1091 and Balmullo NO4252, I suspect the former and find a fifth sheet has been so edited: http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/281179/

Hi Nick,

I'm sure you're right about Balmule rather than Balmuto.

An unfortunate complication is that there's also a second Balmule at NT203881 - obviously more southerly so I'd discount it except that this page [pdf] of OS Map transcriptions lists 'North Balmule' in the parish of Aberdour.

(I think the gr you gave is probably the correct one, but it would be good to know if 'North Balmule' was ever labeled as such and if so then where)

OS Grid reference NT203881

This page [pdf] shows North Balmule just north of South Balmule, near where Bankhead Farm is now labelled.

Thankyou - that seems quite definite! I will re-edit the various sheets accordingly
