N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Can anyone clarify which Babington collected specimens numbered 1 and 2 and whether it can be inferred the same collector also collected specimens numbered 3 to 5?

This is Charles Caudale Babington. You can read his Journal on-line HERE to check his whereabouts, but bear in mind that he often wrote dates 'month/day. year'!

(1) 10 Aug 1847 CCB at Bowmere collecting this plant.
(2) 4 Aug 1832 CCB at Bowmere with WA Leighton & collecting this plant.
(3) - (5) a different collector, I think (writing looks German; perhaps also Sauter as 6-7; probably Anton Eleutherius Sauter, see Wikipedia).
