Filed in taxon folder: | Najas marina L. ("Holly-leaved Naiad") |

Collected by: | E Bennett Mr Arthur Bennett |

Collection date: | 21/7/1883

Locality: | Great Britain, VC27 East Norfolk, Hickling Broad, TG4122

Institution: | University of Birmingham (BIRM) |

notes: | Passing through Deep Dike into Whitesley we took the channel near the keeper's house to Hickling Broad, and exactly at the spot marked 'B M 4-6' on the Ordnance map, my daughter at the bow of the boat brought up a lot of aquatics in the drag. Giving a good 'Hallo' and making the boat rock considerably, I knew we had the new British plant. |

Assimilated from an external database by BIRMherb. Edit historyN.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names. Log-in to edit this sheet.

- Arthur Bennett has several sheets of this species collected same date some naming 'M Bennett' presumably daughter, and some E Bennett, presumably Mr Edward Trusted Bennett?

Arthur Bennett had three daughters, one of whom may have been E Bennet.
There is no evidence to suggest Arthur Bennett ever collected with E T Bennett.
E T Bennett and A W Bennett were the sons of William Bennett and wholly unrelated to Arthur Bennett. |

Thanks - I wondered about that. Pity we haven't managed to get info on more collectors' pages. I tried a couple of times and couldn't get my entry to save. |

Quite a number of collectors now have an entry on H@H wiki and don't forget C Liffen's meiosis.org.uk. A surprising number of botanists have entries on mainstream Wikipedia &/or ODNB or may be found by Googling. |

Hi Nick,
Could you let me know what went wrong when you tried to add information to a collector (and whether you were editing the collector entry or a wiki page) as I wasn't aware that there were problems with this.
thanks,
Tom |

Dear Tom - only a brave man would try to understand my ability to muddle up IT things. In the past I've tried to enter (probably useless) information on 'wiki: View/edit additonal information about xxxxxxx in the herb@home wiki'.
What I should have been using was 'message board: discuss this botanist entry on the message board '. For some reason perhaps Freudian, I can sometimes see this heading, sometimes not |
