N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

From the index of English Botany Volume 37 where the last two columns are labeled 'Vol.' and 'Tab.', so 1801 probably not a date:

No, but it looks as if the two specimens were collected in 1810 and 1822, same place!?

The reference 26-1801 is to vol 26 of EB 1st edition to which I have no access; there is no special discussion in EB 3rd edition.

However, J G Baker in 'North Yorkshire' (1863) credits Dalton with discovering this plant at Leckby Carr.

William Backhouse's herbarium, while on loan to Baker, was destroyed in the 1864 fire at Thirsk.

I suggest that both the 1810 and 1822 spmns were gathered by Dalton and are ex herb James Backhouse.

I've re-edited accordingly with the 1810 and 1822 dates. Dalton's biography page gives 'Rev. James Dalton discovered Scheuchzeria palustris L. in Leckby (or Lakeby) Carr in 1787' - ie at age 23
