N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I infer collector J Woods from handwriting, style of date. 'Upper ...?' faint pencil note added in Townsend's handwriting. I would guess the site is Laughton Common, at TQ495145 northeast of Lewes, Woods' usual area, of the numerous Laughtons in Britain. But Woods' nearest specimens by date are Lincolnshire 6/6, and Yorkshire 20/6. Moor has a more northern sound

http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/361258/ same date, county not named, has been edited as Laughton Moor, East Sussex TQ41, NE of Lewes towards Uckfield and not far from Laughton - but this also may involve an assumption about the county

A search of Woods specimens from June 1842 suggests a progression from North Lincs, to SW Yorks and then the Lake District. East Ferry (SK8199) where he collected on the 13th is just 4km west of Scotton Common and Laughton Wood (SK8599). The Laughton Woods Ponds (SK860995) are listed in Vegetation communities of British lakes: Annex D (2006) [pdf], suggesting the area is still of botanical interest.

OS Grid reference SK860995
