N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Date on label 'April 10/44' probably a misreading of Babington's '10/4. 44' by West. Babington's Journal records his collecting in Gloucestershire 4th-22nd April 1844.

Incidental info: Babington would have visited J S Henslow at his living in Hitcham. This species is on Henslow's list of Hitcham plants. Sanford's Flora refers to what must be a 'twin' of this sheet, from ditch-sides. Alec Bull's books describe how the botanically rich claylands of Hitcham, and Suffolk in general, were transformed in the 1940s by ploughing, to their present poor state. There are no modern records of the species from Suffolk. Regarded by Stace as native to Britain; though may have been grown commercially also for polishing.
