This specimen is 'ex herb Balfour 1788' and the label has 'E B'. Do we know who the collector was, and their dates?

"E.B." is English Botany.

The printed slip is not a collector's label.

Collector Sir J E Smith ?

E. B. is a reference to 'English Botany or Coloured Figures of British Plants' by J. E. smith, where 'Carex filiformis' appears on t. (tabula = plate) 904.
