N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Although I couldn't locate this site, Babington has 2 other Kerry specimens same month, and it seems to be vouched for by the interweb: 'Daniel Maclise, 'Turk Mountain, Killarney'. One of 16 views of England and Ireland - 7730 to 7745.. Museum Number 7741'

In Babington's Journal for 1841 it states -

July 8. Started at about 9 a.m. and went up the old road to Kenmare, passing behind Turk mountain, as far as it continued to ascend ; and then returning went to the top of the Turk mountain, and descended through the wood to, the lake by a very diflficult climb. On the ascent of the back of the mountain I found two Carices, which I am unable to determine in a satisfactory manner, and rather suspect one of them to be new.

Babington's Journal for 8th July 1841 reports his ascent of Turk mountain starting from Killarney and taking the "old road to Kenmare". Torc Mountain (1764ft) is just south of Muckross Lake grid ref. V9583. OSI map

Thanks. I seem to think torc translates either as hill or as boar?
