N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

In the second image of the letter is says "Enclosed is Sagina Boydii which Boyd sent me living from his garden last month" (i.e. August 1903), suggesting the specimen was cultivated in Boyds garden at Faldonside, Roxburghshire, NT5032.

An article 'PLANTS OF SOME SOUTHERN SCOTTISH COUNTIES' by G. C. Druce in Annals of Scottish Natural History, vol. 19, page 42 records his visit to the garden of Mr W. B. Boyd (William Brack Boyd) in August 1909:

Ben A'an is mapped at NN5008, VC87 West Perthshire.

That is really good. I suggest passing this on to someone at Kew, in case the info has been overlooked, particularly given the 'enigmatic' conflict of info between Braemar & Ben A'an. The species (or variety?) is widespread in cultivation, but what other specimens are there of known provenance?
