N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Scotlandsplaces says: Am Fionn-alltan: This name signifies "The Pale or Wan little Stream" and applies to a stream rising south of Sgor Ban and flowing in a southern direction into "Loch Mhaireannach".

Sgor Ban = Sgùrr Bàn, NG974600, and Loch Mhaireannach is now shown as Loch Bharranch NG9757, about 8km SW of Kinlochewe. See original name on OS map of 1892-1908 in cucaera.

Scots Gaelic "mhaireannach" = permanent, eternal.

thanks - that's quite complicated! I wonder why the name changed?

Made even more complicated by the presence of another Sgùrr Bàn at NH0574, 10km north of Kinlochewe. The name means 'Pale Peak'. I can find no reference to the name change.
