N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I definitely read it as 1841, Miss Smith. I don't know why the '?' after 'com'. Amazingly, I have found a very good match for the handwriting, including the 'fs' for 'ss', and habit of underlining, ie the Rev W T Bree!

I found Bree via his collection from Whittlesey (ie different spelling)

The connection between Miss Atwood and this specimen is the sister-in-law she acquired in July 1841 - Georgiana Freeman of Whittlesea.

I hazard the further opinion that "Miss Smith" is a kinswoman of that prominent native of Whittlesea, General Sir Harry Smith (whose wife gave her name to Ladysmith, Cape Province, SA).
