There are many specimens all with a typed label giving the collector as S Coles. These have been documented as S Coles, Sheila Coles and Susan Margaret Coles. They are all Ranunculus specimens; Susan Margaret Coles was working on Ranunculus at Birmingham at the time of the collections, I think this must be the correct name for these specimens |

Yes, 3 have been attributed to S Coles, 25 to Sheila, 14 to Susan. This is not counting 7 from abroad. It would be good to re-edit, have you got a reference to the fact it was Susan? |

This question was raised before in 2011.
Beware! There must be two (at least) "S Coles". Susan Margaret Coles is in Kent & Allen and would have been in the pick-list early on.
Sheila Coles comes from an early documented (25/6/2008) sheet (262020) which has: Coll: S. A. F. Coles Herb: Sheila Coles. The taxon is Solanum sarachoides and dates from 1960, and may be the only example from this collector.
The presence of the two must have led to incorrect choices from the pick-list.
Presumably the Ranunculus cultivated specimens of Susan Margaret Coles should bear the additional collection site of 'Birmingham University Botanic Garden'. |

I have now swapped all Ranunculus specimens to Susan - except for 1 record which is locked |
