I think the initials are not "J E" but "T E" and the collector of this specimen (and probably the other three also) is Thomas Edmondston; and that the date is 1844. cf. http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/307119/

QED Thomas Edmondston - the label is so similar and and date is the same. I then did a search for 'T E' between 1830 - 1860 but thankfully found none.
