N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

There is a place name of a sort but it is so general as to be of no use.

Success! I have found a connection which identifies S Wood (cannot find first name) as the anonymous scribe of so many Birm Nat Hist & Phil Soc sheets (the Wests' mates); his name and his writing are on
http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/255352/?image
I checked the C palustris sheet, which is in this writing, by checking the date, & found 2 collections from this date on H@H, both from Middlesex by S Wood (the Wests' mate); and Streetmap shows a Watery Lane in Middx, in Northolt UB5.....
Nearly all collections named S Wood's are on W West's labels & so not completed in Wood's handwriting. I don't know though how Wood completed Birm labels when all his own collections were away from the Midlands. Maybe all his Midlands forays were with the society, or he credited them as such...? The poor site details on C palustris are characteristic of the Birm sheets, but could also imply Wood lived in Middx.

This anonymous collector with distinctive handwriting has sheets predominantly from Worcs eg http://herbariaunited.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5530
Given resemblance of handwriting to the one found with S Wood's name (1901), http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/255352/ it is quite possible the handwriting is his; BIRM sheets show he made a tour of S E England with W West junior, which would explain the geographic range of such sheets beyond Worcs.
However the handwriting could also be one of the Wests' which are not dissimilar. More (ie genuine) signatures of S Wood would help!

The other Middlesex sheets collected on this same date (3/5/1896) by S Wood are:
http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/277640/
http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/274873/
though the labels are the Wests'.
(If the handwriting on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/263191/?image
(9/8/1901) (which is however in ABS) is considered similar, that is the year of S Wood's peregrination to the Great Orme (7/7/1901)
