Tom,
Fenton John Anthony Hort (1828-1892) was a distinguished Anglican theologian. He was also a botanist and his name appears on his herbarium sheets as 'Fenton J A Hort' which has sometimes been misinterpreted as 'J A Fenton, cultivated'!, e.g. MANCH 343073 Kk803 (which I cannot edit). Canon Hort had family members at Chepstow and some of his specimens are from that area, e.g. http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/279963/ . See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenton_John_Anthony_Hort for further information. His close theological colleague B F Westcott was the son of the botanist Frederick Brooke Westcott.
'J A Fenton' should be deleted as a pop-up name.

Thanks, I've updated the MANCH record and removed J A Fenton from the suggestions list. |
