N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Hi Keith,

I'm sorry that you've still encountered problems. I'm fairly hopeful that things will work now after the changes today.

  • I've corrected two bugs which may have lead to excess memory being used after many sheets had been viewed.

  • Images will be sent more quickly now as all the required thumbnails are pre-generated.

  • The initial image sent is now smaller (in terms of absolute resolution) but of higher quality, and may use considerable less memory in some web browsers. Consequently, the appearance of the low resolution (unzoomed) sheet images has improved even though the overall amount of image data sent has slightly reduced.

Please let me know if images are still fragmenting now (also if anyone else experiences this problem then please follow up this post or email me).
