N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

If William Thompson was HST's father, as stated on the sheet, he cannot have died in 1852,as HST was born in 1870. I assume therefore the date on 'i' relates to his dates of collecting? WT was apparently (a teacher?) at Bootham School York according to the sheet.

Thank you for spotting this. It appears that there are three William Thompson botanists

from British & Irish Botantists:
Thompson, William (1805-1852) b. Befast, d. London
Thompson, William (1823-1903) d. Ipswich

and Thompson, William, (10/11/1837-21/12/1927) father of HST (not listed in British & Irish Botanists)
(see http://www.bridgwaterheritage.org.uk/wembdon_rd_cemetery/archive/page6.html but note that that web page has mis-transcribed HST's dates).

All the Birmingham William Thompson references appear to be HST's father.
