N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Have I got the correct location, should it be Lancashire or Westmorland?

It certainly looks like Blelham Tarn which as it is in Westmorland now and VC 69 is Westmorland with Furness with 69b as Furness it seems sensible to record it as that. I had one earlier that was also labelled by the collector as Lancashire also in modern Westmorland...However from googling just found details of the "Lonsdale Hundred" one of the original six Lancastrian Hundreds which for ancient reasons includes an area, "the Furness peninsular" i.e. VC 69b in which your tarn lies, isolated in the middle of Westmorland! more at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonsdale_(hundred) for a start!

If the wiki info at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Lonsdale_Rural_District

is correct it was still in Lancashire as recently as 1974!

I put my one (See

http://herbariaunited.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2466 )

down as Westmorland as the data base doesn't seem to do 69b and noted it as Lancashire but would be interested in the definitive solution !

"Lake Lancashire" (in this case L. Lancashire) is an archaic reference to Westmorland (or possibly just VC 69b - I'm not certain). So in general 'Lake Lancashire' should be taken to mean 69 rather than VC60.

For the purposes of herb@home (partly for the sake of simplicity) no distinction has been drawn between VC69 and VC69b.

regards,

Tom
