Another label suggesting 'MAB' may have been curator/administrator for an 'official' herbarium as well as being a collector? See also eg Dipsacus pilosus, Kempston; Narthecium ossifragum W J Hooker.

The collector is Rev R H Webb, coauthor with W H Coleman of the 1849 Flora of Hertfordshire; they are both represented in MAB's herbarium, very likely as donors in an exchange club, probably the Botanical Society of London. Flitwick Manor with its grounds and surrounds feature so largely in the herbarium that one is drawn to the conclusion that MAB was a family member or, perhaps, a governess. At the time MAB's herbarium was formed Flitwick Manor was owned by Sir Thomas John Brooks who landscaped the grounds and developed such features as the Botanic Garden.
