N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Could this be Sir Arthur George Tansley (1871 - 1955)

From some random googling: "After World War I Tansley turned to psychology and resigned from Cambridge in 1923 to spend time studying under Sigmund Freud in Austria. In 1927 he became professor of botany at Oxford University, a position held until his retirement in 1937." viewed at http://www.answers.com/topic/arthur-tansley
So assuming he didn't resign/ before the end of the Cambridge 1922/23 academic year he should have still in the area on 24th Jun 1923. There are seemingly dozens of A, AG and G Tansleys but only Sir AG seems to be a botanist, so probably yes!!

There is a detailed article on his life and work here
www.hps.cam.ac.uk/people/forrester/nice_type.pdf [pdf]; an interesting man - a quick search on Amazon reveals the extent of his writings.
