N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Could this be Newton South Devon? I found a Jordan collection from there http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/287474/ May 1845; though no collections of his from August. I also wondered about the signature/monogram; I know there were several Jordans, but have not found one with the initial C (or A) if that is what it is.

Re Jordans - Suspect you've seen it but Ray Desmond's dictionary of Botanists of Brit isles lists at page 390 a "Jordan, Robert Coane Roberts (1825-90) " of teignmouth devon who contributed plant records for Teignmouth, Devon, so quiet near and 20 years old when collection made. Sometimes visible at:
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=thmPzIltAV8C&printsec=frontcover&dq=dictionary+of+botanists+of+british&cd=1#v=onepage&q=jordan&f=false

Assume he's the same Robert Coane(?) Roberts Jordan aka(?) Dr RCR Jordan both listed in the collectors list. The Dr RCR Jordan specimens have the same monogram and there are specimens for jun and jul 45 both from Devon. Mike d'A

From http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/293501/ etc I now see the collector is Charles James Rufus Jordan; and site is almost certainly in the Teignmouth area ie Newton Abbot
