Although I lived in Hereford for eight years I didn't know before of the existence of the Canal in Hereford, but there is a reference to it here and to the location at
OS Grid reference SO51604160

I think the T...word is "tunnel"

I do however think it odd that Ley who always seems to give place-names however vague did not on this occasion.

I think because the site is right in Hereford city. On one of the references it says that the canal was crossed by a bridge at the top of Widemarsh St. (where I used to teach)! Cool
