N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

It is "P. nemoralis" probably det by Babington. (C C B) which probably should be entered as the preferred taxon name.

Stace (1997) doesn't accept P. balfouri but refers it to P.glauca. The new Grasses handbook says "P. glauca is part of a difficult complex...centred on P. nemoralis. It is just barely tenable as a separate species". But it also says that "plants [of P. glauca] from sheltered places ('P.balfouri') can resemble montane forms of P. nemoralis". However neither P. balfouri nor P. glauca are recorded from VC42 by the BSBI.

Many thanks, what fun first time a name change for me.
I lent to a "friend" my Grasses book many years ago and of course never got it back.
