It's now possible to add web-links to any specimen, collector, locality or taxon record. This makes it possible to associate records and to link in other relevant info from the web.

To add links (when logged-in) go to the record and look for

External links: add link

clicking here opens a mini-form where you are prompted for a name for the link, a brief description (displayed as a tool-tip) and the full address of the link (e.g. http://example.com )

To get things started I've linked about 5000 localities to their related pages on wikipedia (not by hand) and linked taxon entries to the corresponding BSBI species pages.

I'm very happy for anything which is directly relevant to a specific record to be linked - anything which makes the record more useful by placing it in context or which provides useful background information.
