N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Collector looks like FWM, but I don't know enough about Essex to guess who this might be.

I have been trying to track this person down also, he has a number of Essex collections on H@H, some sporting his illegible initials (JNM?) but in no case can I match them to a collector. In such cases, do you think there is a way of contacting a herbarium in the county, and asking them to look at the sheets, in this case any between the years 1825 to 1850 I would say.

Your best bet is to email the county recorder, Ken Adams (ken.adams at virgin.net) and see if he has any ideas. Alternatively, you could look in Gibson's 1862 Flora of Essex and see if that helps. There's a rather cursory summary of it in Jermyn's Flora, but it's not much help.
