Whether the spelling Pills Wood on the site menu is correct, or the label spelling Pitts Wood, I could not find the site on a modern map.

Sure it's Pitts Wood. Isn't it depressing to see those vast housing estates around Birmingham where once there were fields and woods? See http://www.bosf.org.uk/directory/images/edgbaston_friends-of-pitts-wood_1.pdf [pdf]. As near as I can work it out it's around
OS Grid reference SP0184

Quite a lot of refs on Google for Pitts Wood/Harborne.
