Is there really enough handwriting to say this is Groom's? I've not come across him recording in Shropshire. And what do we know about the date of specimens in the prince of Mantua's collection? Could it be a Leighton specimen?

I agree about Groom not apparently collecting in this area. I checked this and did not enter anything in the collector box. I have only very occasionally attributed a specimen to Groom on the basis of handwriting alone; sometimes I have equally left collector blank, only drawing attention in notes box even where there are other indications eg favoured locality. The field in this case is probably wide open as to collector - M&M seems to have had an incredible ability to get hold of specimens of multitudinous collectors of all sorts of dates. I have to admit you are right to question.
