I definitely read this as Karasjok - the place in Norway of this name is right up near the northern tip, close to the Finnish border, in Finnmarksvida, in my atlas. 'West' appears in pencil, in W West's handwriting, just to right of specimen. The initials look like AJ, AeJ or even AoJ; the date is 6/1882 and I thought either 22 or 12 th.
I then possibly struck gold with a very good match for handwriting etc http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/271253/ collected by Oswald Kihlman from Finland 1884 - or did all Scandinavians write similarly at the time?
However I'm now embarking on a fuller trawl.
