Although N B Ward existed, (see:
http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/289644/
http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/229754/
for specimens from Middlesex & Ireland),
I wonder if some specimens from Scotland could be a different Ward; as N B = North Britain ie Scotland; eg:
http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/284757/
the handwriting also does not match between the latter sheet and the first above.

N B Ward = Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward ??

(There seem to be a number of entries for N B Ward in the H@H list of collectors)

N B Ward seems to have been a very busy man; he belonged to many academic and natural history clubs / societies. He was warden of the Society of Apothecaries - vide infra

He was one of the founding members of the Quekett (Microscopical) Club; where he was treasurer.

He was a member of The Botanical Society of Edinburgh - and was local secretary in London. He was an active botanist and was 'well connected' in that he know many of the famous botanists and zoologists of his time.

He invented a special glass case for growing plants / ferns etc; it is referred to repeatedly in horticultural lierature.
