Bernard Bradley Gough was killed in Belgium on 17th Feb1916, had trained at Guy's as a surgeon in 1890s and worked there for most of next 20 years before moving to Compton Martin in the Mendips. A colleague described him in the BMJ obituary as "a lover of wild things with the rare gift of opening the eyes of others to the beauty of the world around..."
