Site? The only Selbourne Road I can find in Surrey is at Guildford TQ010516. Jean Byatt's county; though she has no other specimens from that month

Byatt's tetrad 36B3 is equivalent to TQ36H, Croydon. Within this area is
a Brownlow Road junction with Selborne Road at OS TQ335650. Doubts about the road name and spelling on what may have been a building site are perhaps understandable!
