Will the real J Bagnall stand up? I see that we apparently have
J W Bagnall on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/263570/
probably ditto on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/251681/
J Bagnall on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/252926/
J E Bagnall on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/243072/
(all written by W H Painter)
J E Bagnall on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/279706/
and J Bagnall on http://herbariaunited.org/popupsiginfo.php?sigid=40
These 2 latter are presumably in Bagnall's own hand.
So - were there 2 Bagnalls (both collecting in Warks), was Painter making a mistake, or is it just Painter's handwriting? I don't think the W is an E on its back.

I think they are all J E Bagnall. The second link from bottom is probably his writing, I don't think any of the others are. (I can't track down the sheet associated with the red-framed label, but it might be in Charles Bailey's hand).

I have found one label where Painter writes an E on its back to look like a W, http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/261216/

I've removed http://herbariaunited.org/popupsiginfo.php?sigid=40 as an example of Bagnall's writing. I now think the label was probably written by Charles Bailey. (I was the one who uploaded the handwriting in the first place... Embarassed sorry)
