N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Hi
It is not very clear, and it presumably cannot be W Gardiner, the Dundee based umbrella maker as he died in 1852 - unless the date is when Hillhouse acquired the specimen / sheet ???.
If it was a specimen of Gardiner then it was almost certainly collected in Scotland - http://herbariaunited.org/collector/947/
Regards
Chris

Yes I tried W Gardener and Jnr who both seemed to favor Scotland and thought a lot about Balmoral also it may? say Aug13 but that is either to late or to early, have to put it down as an could be ?

By chance, I have discovered Balmerino, (see:
http://herbariaunited.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2642 for some location details, and:
http://herbariaunited.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=12229#12229 which is from nearby & has Gardiner's name).
I don't think '95' is the date but a filing reference.
