I came accross a digital refernce to S. hirculus in Co. Meath, Ireland
in your online database. I was wondering if there was any further information on the location this record was taken from? many thanks

I think you would have to ask MANCH, quoting the accession number.
I note the collector is believed to be William Andrews. Don't his records tend sometimes to be suspect? |

Thanks I will do. Really? It is the only record I've heard of from Meath so I was a bit surprised. Has a problem come up with him before? |

For MANCH, see http://www.biodiversitycollectionsindex.org/collection/view/id/15091
Andrews, William (1802–1880), naturalist; born, Chichester; died, Dublin. Secretary and president, of the Dublin Natural History Society. "He distributed botanical specimens, many of which were taken from plants cultivated in his garden, and hence accidental mistakes as to their origin not infrequently arose."
The 'New Atlas of the Br & Irish Flora' reveals pre-1970 records in Co Meath for this taxon but states that most of its lowland habitats in GB and Ireland have been lost to drainage and agriculture. |
