There's a High Woods in Sussex, Essex, Northants, but I don't think there is a R Avon in these counties

Can't seem to download images at the moment - will look again later. My recollection was that it was his writing - though rather scruffy even for him.

Yes, think so. Again, the open B (on Bank etc) is fairly characteristic.
