N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Label says T. corniculata.

Collector is James, not John, Fraser.

It took me ages to find out (no reference in Stace) what Trigonella ornithopodioides is (or was), although the combination is not unfamiliar to the ear (eventually Dr Tim Rich told me).

Trifolium ornithopodioides L. was renamed Trigonella ornithopodiodes (L.) DC by de Candolle but has reverted to Trifolium. In the UK it is a seaside native and the New Atlas records it as an alien around Edinburgh.

There is however a current taxon validly named Trigonella corniculata which is the name on this specimen's label. The New Atlas does not map this taxon as having been recorded as far north as Scotland (not that that is in itself diagnostic).

The presence of fruit would have helped. Are the flowers "5-7mm in elongated Melilotus-like racemes" (Trig. corniculata) or "6-8mm, in stalked, axillary 1-4 (5) flowered racemes" (Trif. ornithopodiodes)?

As usual I would have to back this each way & my selection is Trifolium ornithopodioides.
