N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names. Log-in to edit this sheet.

- I couldn't locate this site. Babington collected from Snowdonia at this time.

Further thoughts: C. atrata has only ever been recorded in VC49 (or Wales) in SH65 and the only Dduallt there is on Moel Hebog which is outwith the hectad. I think Babington may have been mistaken in the place name and anyway it is surely not the location I previously suggested. |

According to Babington's Journal this must be on Snowdon. Under August 1847 he describes a walk from his base in Llanberis:
"Aug. 20. Ascended Snowdon as far as the Bwlch Glas, then
across to the top of Clogwyn-ddûr-Arddû, then down the slope to
the base of Crib-y-ddysgyl, and along its base to near the slope of
grass by Crib Goch. Found Carex atrata, Aspidium lonchitis,
Sausurea, etc. Returned down the watercourse through Cwm Glas." |

Whether West's label is a conflation of Crib Goch and Crib-y-ddysgl, these places on Snowdon would match Mossysal's grid ref, being at SH6255; so I'm editing in Crib Goch - thanks! |
