N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

On the label, the words after the name of this taxon are "arte B[illeg.] orta" meaning 'arose by the craft of B', signifying that B (Linton's gardener?) had engineered the hybrid, the parentage being S. caprea mother and S. myrsinites father.

This hybrid has been given the name S. x lintonii EG & A Camus but is seemingly not known in the wild, at least not in GB (vide Stace 3).

Note that "mysinites" should be correctly spelt 'myrsinites'.

http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/216515/ is a sister specimen (coll. 1912) at MANCH labelled "Edmondsham garden. Raised in the garden at Bournemouth ".

This suggests that "B[illeg]" is an abbreviation for Bournemouth, so the label reads 'raised by design at Bournemouth'.
