Miss Bacon was clearly a formidable person - she was a balloonist and a member of the Royal Photographic Society as well as a "prominent member in her own right"* of the Botanical Society and Exchange Club.

She married T J Foggitt, under whose name she appears on H@H but without a link to her maiden name. She was credited as one of the first two people to find Carex microglochin in Britain.

Wilson was also a friend of John Foggitt (born 1861/2) of Thirsk (later of Southport and Kirkby Lonsdale); three generations of Foggitts of Thirsk were botanists, starting with Thomas J. (1810-1895), his son William (1835-1917), and then grandson Thomas Jackson (1858-1934), who married Gertrude née Bacon, co-discoverer of Carex microglochin in Scotland in 1923.
