N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I have forgotten how to decode the four-figure dates on Townsend specimens. Help please!

The unusual date format is that of Joseph Woods - http://herbariaunited.org/collector/19670/

"In A.J. Wilmott's 1949 notes on the SLBI Herbarium he writes,

"Joseph Woods used a system similar to that used by Robert Brown.

He indicated the date by putting first the last two numbers of the year, then the number or numbers of the month, and then the day of the month.

Thus 266 means June 1826 and
4366 means 6th June 1843. "

Think this was collected by Woods -
then his herbarium passed to Townsend on his death,
and then finally to SLBI.
