N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

The instructions are not to document specimen 2, only the one coded K000790101.

There are no records on the BSBI database for C longifolia in Portland SY67, so surely it means something other than location?

Anyway the Sarum specimen surely means "Wilts" not Witts"? Smile

All getting very confusing. I agree that inadvertantly entering both on same sheet causes a problem ie they're both allocated the same number, and I will re-edit - once 'Witts' is sorted out! I also read it as Wilts. And is Sarum the same as Salisbury, or does it mean Old Sarum? I don't particuarly think Portland Dorset (though there is currently a Museum, near Wakeham East Quarries, Easton).

I have caused confusion by attributing spmn no. 2 to Witts but I think I can shed some light on spmn no. 1.

"Portland Mus" refers to the Duchess of Portland's Museum (see Catalogue at http://archive.org/stream/catalogueofportl00portrich#page/n5/mode/2up) of which the herbarium (see in the Catalogue item no. 1496, end of 14th day) was bought by Aylmer Bourke Lambert (both listed in B&B).

That solves the whole issue and I will re-edit as separate entries; I see the catalogue info is 'a miscellany of dried plants' ie no individual detail.
