Bromfield says (1850) in Flora Vectensis "The Water Avens (Geum rivale, L.), not hitherto found in the island, abounds in wet meadows in various parts of the county [Hampshire]" Since they both lived on the IoW and were in close contact it is strange that A.J.H.'s record seems to have been unknown to him. Furthermore there are no other known records of G. rivale from vc 10.
