'Historically, vendace were recorded at four UK locations - Bassenthwaite, Derwent Water, Castle Loch and Mill Loch in Dumfries and Galloway. The Castle Loch population disappeared at the beginning of the 20th Century and Mill Loch shortly before the end.'
