I couldn't shed any light on this, but the label is one of J Woods, as per the monogram W (resembling CS); he has several specimens from Herts dated June 1846, none shedding a light on 'B Abbott'

Googling, I found this: http://www.hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk/data/answers/answers-2003/ans-0307-abbott.htm

"I write because I needed to find data relating to a previous (c. 1850) occupant named Benjamin Abbott who ran a Quaker school in Hitchin. LDS found a christening record (1793) in Whitechapel and there the trail stopped. Local information suggested he had come to Hitchin from Lewes but no proof. Local historical records were very sparse." More......

Could Woods have known B. Abbott from his Lewes days? As Quakers, this seems quite likely. It seems that Abbott also ran a Quaker school in Lewes.
