N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

He was Dean at Winchester, and members of his family were apothecaries to Chelsea Hospital. His grandfather was apothecary general to the army.

Educated Worcester College, Oxford and later fellow of All Souls. Rector of Bishopstoke in 1807. In 1840, he was nominated by Lord Melbourne for the Deanery. Friend and neighbour of Lord Palmerston; Canning was a school fellow of his.

His garden at Bishopstoke was well known, especially for rare shrubs.
