N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

From the BSBI Archive [pdf]:

"W. J. Cross, a young botanist of Ely, who discovered the plant [Selinum carvifolia] 'on swampy land near Fordham, Cambridgeshire', in August 1882."

Probably different from 'William J Cross' in the database who would have been about 50 in 1882 and died before 1891 (10/9/1832-22/6/1885). William J Cross and 'J W F Cross' fl.1888-1889, both in Kent & Allen, are causing confusion in h@h.

See 3 botanists by the name of Cross on the message board.
